Spain Beat Argentina to Win FIFA World Cup 2026


Spain are the champions of the FIFA World Cup 2026 after defeating Argentina 1-0 after extra time in a thrilling final at MetLife Stadium. Ferran Torres scored the winning goal in the 106th minute to hand La Roja their second World Cup title and end Argentina's hopes of defending the trophy.

The final was a close contest from start to finish. Spain enjoyed more possession and created several chances, while Argentina looked dangerous on the counterattack. Goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez made a number of important saves to keep Argentina in the game during normal time.

The match remained goalless after 90 minutes before Spain finally found the breakthrough in extra time. Ferran Torres finished calmly from inside the penalty area to give Spain the lead. Spain enjoyed an impressive run to the title, defeating Austria, Portugal, Belgium, France and finally Argentina in the knockout stage. Their consistent performances throughout the tournament made them worthy world champions.

Argentina also had an excellent World Cup campaign, reaching the final after victories over Cape Verde, Egypt, Switzerland and England. However, they were unable to find a way past Spain in the biggest match of the tournament.

Spain's victory marks another historic moment for the national team, while Argentina finish the tournament as runners-up after a memorable title defence.
